Infectious Disease Interdisciplinary Research Group (IRG) is a research group established within SMART. In this IRG, you will have opportunity to work with leading investigators in novel platform technologies and their applications in the following diseases: malaria, tuberculosis, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus infections. The IRG is currently looking for a Laboratory Technologist.
Laboratory Technologist
You will provide laboratory and technical support for research-related activities such as assist in training students and researchers in essential laboratory techniques. In addition, you will oversee the maintenance for equipment, procurement of consumables for research/equipment, involvement in research projects as well as support in other assigned duties.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor in one of the following fields: Bioengineering/Chemical/Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or Physics
- Good communication and organizational skill
- Strong knowledge and practical skills in one or more of these techniques/equipment: optical microscopy, confocal microscopy, atomic force microscopy, optical tweezers, microfluidics
- Able to work independently to plan, test and supervise experiments

Responsibilities: The key objective of the AstraZeneca Workshop in Biomedical Sciences is to provide students of biological, pharmaceutical and chemical sciences a hands-on experience of the research methodologies and techniques in these areas within the environment of a pharmaceutical research organization engaged in drug discovery. This program is designed to supplement and contribute to the on-going objectives of AZI while simultaneously providing such a learning experience to the students.
